Why Bringing Dogs into the Office is the Perfect Way to Mark World Mental Health Day
6 August 2025Making January Brighter at Leeds Business School: A Return Visit with Our Therapy Dogs
Workplace stress is a growing concern across the UK, with MHFA England reporting that 79% of employees experience moderate-to-high levels of stress and one in four workers feel unable to cope. At Moment to Paws, we believe in the simple yet powerful effect of spending time with dogs to help ease this burden — and in January 2025, we had the joy of bringing that relief back to Leeds Business School.
A Warm Welcome Back
As part of their Wellbeing & Community Day, we were invited back for the second year running to support staff and students in taking a break, relaxing, and enjoying some much-needed time with our friendly four-legged team. Therapy dogs Tilly, Lylah, Rosie, and Harry were absolutely in their element — showered with strokes, cuddles, and smiles for a full two hours of calm connection.
10-Minute Slows That Make a Big Impact
Sessions were held in 10-minute time slots to allow small groups of people to experience the benefits of interacting with the dogs. This format provides the perfect pause in a busy day, helping individuals switch off, recharge, and connect with others in a low-pressure, feel-good setting.
The Leeds Business School Staff & Student Wellbeing Group, who organise wellbeing events year-round, saw such a positive response last year that they were keen to bring us back. As they put it:
“Everybody always raves about Moment to Paws visiting – there is a lovely atmosphere in the room and the dogs are so happy to see everyone (and the feeling is likewise!) The facilitators are very kind and welcoming, and the sessions allow staff/students to de-stress and recharge. Moment to Paws brings a genuine opportunity for colleagues to connect and de-stress. Stroking and cuddling the dogs is such a mood-booster and hopefully made everyone’s January a little bit brighter!”
Therapy Dogs Assessed for the Job
Every dog on our team has been carefully assessed to ensure they’re happy, confident, and calm in busy work environments. Our training process, led by certified trainer and behaviourist Kate Soames, ensures that each dog is fully prepared to support others through their presence and affection.
Helping Workplaces Pause and Reconnect
It’s always a pleasure to be part of events like these, and we’re proud to bring a bit of brightness and connection into workplace and university settings. Whether it's a 10-minute cuddle or a meaningful chat sparked by the dogs’ presence, we see time and again how these small moments can make a big difference.
We currently cover the majority of Yorkshire, including Leeds, York, Sheffield, Harrogate, and Bradford. If you’re interested in booking a therapy dog event for your workplace or university, just drop us a line at [email protected]
Let’s make wellbeing part of the workday — one paw at a time.
