Universities and student accommodation

Student wellbeing therapy dog events

Settling in, missing home, exams and deadlines – sometimes what students need most is a cuddle with a dog.

Meet Tilly, Opie, Sally, Karrot, Star and Harry – just some of the su-PAW-stars your students could meet. We bring friendly, temperament assessed dogs to your campus, students’ union or accommodation, and invite small groups in to completely switch off, cuddle and recharge with our four-legged friends.

  • Fully insured
  • Temperament assessed dogs
  • Across Yorkshire and the North

When to book

A Moment to Paws for every point in the year

The most popular dates go quickly, so we recommend booking exam season early.

  1. September

    Welcome week

A friendly first hello that helps new students settle in and make friends.

  2. October – November

    Settling in

When the novelty wears off and homesickness can creep in, a dog cuddle goes a long way.

  3. December – January

    Winter exams and deadlines

A welcome break from revision for students who need to step away and recharge.

  4. February – March

    Wellbeing and awareness weeks

A headline activity for your mental health and wellbeing campaigns.

  5. May – June

    Summer exams

Our busiest time of year, when students need a calm moment most.

The experience

Your campus, transformed

A vibrant, welcoming space where dogs and students come together, with mental wellbeing at the core.

A break from the books

We give students a reason to step away from revision and screens in small groups, to disconnect, recharge and reconnect – showered with the unapologetic love and attention of our four-legged friends.

Connection, made easy

Nothing breaks the ice like a waggy tail. Students who might not come to a social come along to meet the dogs, and leave having chatted to someone new.

We take care of everything

Set-up, sign-ups, allergy precautions, comfort breaks, health and safety: it’s all handled on the day. Spark the excitement early with our pre-event posters around halls and campus.

The science

Why does it work?

Interaction with a dog for just 10 minutes is shown to:

  • Reduce cortisol, the hormone responsible for stress
  • Boost mood-enhancing hormones, including serotonin and oxytocin
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduce anxiety
  • Improve mental health
  • Promote feelings of trust among peers
  • Spark laughter and creativity

Sally the Cockapoo wearing her Moment to Paws bandana

Cockapoo

Sally

Our chief greeter. Sally loves nothing more than meeting new people, and will make you feel welcome the moment you walk in, with the waggiest of tails.

Segugio Italiano x Beagle

Karrot

Lively, sociable and keen to say hello to everyone in the room… though don’t be surprised if he ends up stretched out on a beanbag.

Trudy the Maltipoo wearing her Moment to Paws bandana

Maltipoo

Trudy

The sweetest of girls. Trudy likes to take her time getting to know you; once you have her trust, look out for her signature helicopter tail wag.

Mabel the Cocker Spaniel wearing her Moment to Paws bandana

Cocker Spaniel

Mabel

Known for cuddling in as close as she possibly can. There’s no resisting those big brown eyes and that long, soft coat.
